Indoor Soccer Rules

Game Structure

  • Duration: Two halves of 12 minutes each.
  • Halftime: 2 minutes.

Teams

  • Players: Each team consists of 6 players on the court (including the goalkeeper) and can make unlimited substitutions. A team must have at least 4 players to start the game.
  • Mixed Teams: A mixed team must have at least 3 women on the court at all times.
  • Substitutions: Can occur at any stoppage in play. Players must enter and exit at the designated substitution area.

Scoring

  • Goals: A goal is awarded when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the goalposts and beneath the crossbar. Each goal is worth 1 point.

Game Play

  • Starting the Game: Play begins with a kick-off from the centre circle.
  • Continuous Play: The game is played continuously. If the ball goes out of bounds, play resumes with a kick-in from the nearest point by the opposing team.
  • Dribbling and Passing: Players may dribble, pass, and shoot freely without restrictions on the number of touches.
  • Goalkeeper Rules:
    • The goalkeeper may use their hands within the penalty area.
    • The goalkeeper cannot kick or throw the ball past the halfway line.

Fouls and Free Kicks

  • Personal Fouls: Fouls such as tripping, pushing, or other illegal contact may result in a warning or a free kick awarded to the opposing team.
  • Free Kicks:
    • Awarded for fouls outside the penalty area.
    • All players must be at least 3 metres away from the ball.
  • Penalty Kicks:
    • Awarded for fouls inside the penalty area.
    • The kick is taken from the penalty mark with only the goalkeeper allowed to defend.

Violations

  • Dangerous Play: Reckless tackles, high kicks, or any dangerous actions may result in a free kick or penalty, depending on the severity of the offence.

Timeouts

  • No timeouts. The game will only stop for injuries.

Officials

  • A referee enforces the rules, manages gameplay, and settles disputes. The referee’s decision is final.

Conduct & Disciplinary Actions

  • Yellow Card (Caution): Issued for:
    • Unsporting behaviour
    • Dissent (arguing with officials)
    • Persistent rule violations
    • Delaying the restart of play
  • Red Card (Send-Off): Issued for:
    • Serious foul play
    • Violent conduct
    • Spitting at an opponent or any other person
    • Using offensive, insulting, or abusive language/gestures
    • Receiving a second yellow card in the same match
    • Dissent towards officials
  • Suspensions:
    • A player receiving a red card is suspended for at least one match. Management may extend this suspension based on the referee’s report.
    • A player accumulating two red cards in the competition may be disqualified from further participation.

Finals Eligibility

  • Players must have their name, email, and phone number registered in Spawtz.
  • Players must have participated in at least 3 games in the current competition to be eligible for finals.

Competition Points

  • Win: 3 points
  • Draw: 1 point
  • Loss: 0 points
  • Forfeit (win): 3 points
  • Forfeit (loss): 0 points
  • Forfeit (less than 24 hours’ notice): -1 point

Game Fees

  • Teams must pay game fees before the start of each match.
  • Teams must pay the game fee if forfeiting within 24 hours’ notice.

Indoor Netball Rules

Game Structure

  • Duration: Two halves of 15 minutes each.
  • Halftime: 3 minutes.

Teams

  • Players: Each team consists of 7 players on the court. A team must have at least 4 players to start the game.
  • Mixed Teams: A maximum of 3 males are allowed on the court, and they must be positioned across different thirds.
  • Substitutions: Substitutions can only be made at halftime, except in cases of injury. Injured players must leave the court before a substitute can enter.

Scoring

  • Goals: A goal is scored when a player within the shooting circle successfully shoots the ball through the opponent’s hoop.

Game Play

  • Starting the Game: The game begins with a centre pass from the centre circle.
  • Out of Bounds: If the ball leaves the designated playing area, the opposing team restarts play with a throw-in from the point where it went out.
  • Movement: Players cannot run with the ball and must pass or shoot within 3 seconds of receiving it.
  • Stepping: Players may not take more than 1.5 steps while in possession of the ball.
  • Footwork: Upon catching a pass, at least one foot must be grounded before passing or shooting.
  • Passing: The ball cannot be thrown over more than two-thirds of the court without touching another player.

Player Positions & Court Areas

Each player has a designated position with restricted movement areas:

  • Goal Shooter (GS): Attacking shooting circle only.
  • Goal Attack (GA): Attacking shooting circle, attacking third, and centre third.
  • Wing Attack (WA): Attacking third and centre third, but not the shooting circle.
  • Centre (C): All thirds, except shooting circles.
  • Wing Defence (WD): Centre third and defensive third, but not the shooting circle.
  • Goal Defence (GD): Defensive shooting circle, defensive third, and centre third.
  • Goalkeeper (GK): Defensive third and shooting circle.

Fouls & Free Passes

  • Contact & Obstruction: Players must not make contact with opponents or obstruct their path. Violations result in a free pass to the opposing team.
  • Free Pass: Awarded for minor infringements. The player must pass within 3 seconds.
  • Penalty Pass: Awarded for serious infringements, such as contact in the shooting circle. Defenders must stand at least 1 metre away.

Timeouts

  • No timeouts. The game will only stop in the event of an injury.

Officials

  • At least one umpire will enforce the rules, manage the game flow, and resolve disputes.

Conduct

  • Players must uphold sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike behaviour may result in warnings or suspensions.

Finals Eligibility

  • Players must have their name, email address, and phone number registered in Spawtz.
  • To qualify for finals, players must have participated in at least 3 games in the current competition.

Indoor Basketball Rules

Game Structure

  • Field Goals:
    • Inside the three-point line: 2 points.
    • Beyond the three-point line: 3 points.
  • Free Throws: Each successful free throw is worth 1 point.

Game Play

  • Starting the Game: The game begins with a jump ball at centre court.
  • Dribbling: Players must dribble while moving. Once a player stops dribbling, they cannot resume dribbling until another player has touched the ball.

Fouls

  • Personal Fouls: A player is disqualified after 5 personal fouls.
  • Team Fouls: Once a team reaches 5 fouls in a half, the opposing team is awarded 2 free throws for each additional foul.
  • Technical Fouls: Result in 2 free throws for the opposing team. Players can receive a technical foul for unsportsmanlike behaviour.

Violations

  • Travelling: More than two steps without dribbling results in a turnover.
  • Double Dribble: Dribbling, stopping, and then dribbling again is not allowed.
  • Three-Second Violation: Offensive players cannot remain in the key (paint area) for more than 3 seconds while their team is in possession.

Timeouts

  • No timeouts. The game will stop only for injuries.

Officials

  • One referee enforces the rules, manages gameplay, and settles disputes. The referee’s decision is final.

Conduct

  • Players and coaches must uphold sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in a technical foul or ejection.

Finals Eligibility

  • Players must have their name, email, and phone number registered in Spawtz.
  • To qualify for finals, players must have participated in at least 3 games in the current competition.

Indoor Pickleball Rules

Game Structure

  • Winning Condition: The first team to reach 11 points wins, provided they lead by at least 2 points.
  • Time Limit: Maximum game duration is 30 minutes. If time expires, the team with the highest score wins.

Teams

  • Players: Games are played as singles (1 vs 1) or doubles (2 vs 2).

Scoring

  • Points: Only the serving team can score. A point is awarded if the opposing team fails to return the ball or commits a fault.
  • Winning the Game: The first team to reach 11 points wins, with a minimum 2-point lead.

Game Play

  • Serving:
    • Must be underhand and behind the baseline.
    • The serve must clear the non-volley zone (“kitchen”).
  • Double Bounce Rule:
    • The receiving team must let the serve bounce once before returning.
    • The serving team must also let the return bounce before playing the ball.
  • Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen):
    • Players cannot volley (hit the ball before it bounces) while standing in the non-volley zone (7 feet from the net on either side).

Faults

  • Serving Faults:
    • The serve does not clear the net.
    • The serve lands outside the designated service court.
  • Play Faults:
    • The ball is hit into the net.
    • The ball is hit out of bounds.
    • A player volleys the ball while standing in the non-volley zone.

Line Calls

  • Players are responsible for making line calls on their side of the court.
  • Disputed calls must be resolved by mutual agreement. If no agreement is reached, the point is replayed.

Conduct

  • Players must uphold sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike behaviour may result in a warning or ejection.
