Indoor Soccer Rules
Game Structure
- Duration: Two halves of 12 minutes each.
- Halftime: 2 minutes.
Teams
- Players: Each team consists of 6 players on the court (including the goalkeeper) and can have unlimited substitutions. A team must have at least 4 players on the court to start the game.
- Mixed: A mixed team must have 3 women on the court at all times.
- Substitution: Substitutions can occur at any stoppage in play. Substituting players must enter and exit at the designated substitution area.
Scoring
- Goals: A goal is scored when the entire ball crosses the goal line between the goalposts and beneath the crossbar. A goal is worth 1 point.
Game Play
- Starting the Game: The game begins with a kick-off from the centre circle.
- No Out of Bounds: The game is played continuously, and if the ball goes out of the designated playing area, it is restarted with a kick-in from the closest point by the opposing team.
- Dribbling and Passing: Players can dribble, pass, and shoot the ball freely without restrictions on the number of touches.
- Goalkeeper: The goalkeeper has special privileges, such as being allowed to use their hands to save the ball within their designated penalty area. However, they cannot kick or throw the ball past the halfway line.
Fouls and Free Kicks
- Personal Fouls: A player who commits a foul (e.g., tripping, pushing) may receive a warning or a free kick awarded to the opposing team.
- Free Kicks: Free kicks are awarded for fouls. If a foul occurs outside the penalty area, a direct free kick is awarded. All players must be at least 3 metres away from the ball during a free kick.
- Penalty Kicks: A penalty kick is awarded for fouls occurring within the penalty area. The kick is taken from the penalty mark, with only the goalkeeper allowed to defend the goal.
Violations
- Dangerous Play: Players must avoid actions that are considered dangerous, such as high kicks or reckless tackles. This can result in a free kick or penalty kick as deemed appropriate by the referee.
Timeout
- There will be no timeouts. The game will be stopped in the event of an injury.
Officials
- The game will have 1 referee who enforces the rules, manages the game flow, and addresses any disputes. The referee’s decision is final.
Conduct
- In the event of a cautionable offence being interpreted by the referee (within the rules of the game) then a yellow card is issued.
A player earning a second caution in one game will be sent off by the referee for the duration of the game.
In the event of a ‘send off’ offence, interpreted by the referee within the rules of the game, then the player involved shall be sent off for the duration of the game and will be automatically suspended for at least one fixture. Management has the power to extend the period of suspension, based on the referee’s report.
Should a player accrue two ‘send off’ offences during the competition, the player concerned may be automatically suspended from taking any further part in the competition.
- Yellow Card: A player may be cautioned and shown the yellow card if he/she is guilty of any of the following offences: unsporting behaviour; dissent by word or action; persistent infringement of the Laws of the Game; delaying the restart of play.
- Red Card: A player is sent off (red card) if he/she commits any of the following offences: serious foul play; violent conduct; spitting at an opponent or any other person; using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures; receiving a second caution in the same match; dissent towards the officials
Finals Eligibility
- To be eligible to play in the finals, players must have their name, email address and phone numbers in Spawtz. Players must have played 3 current competition games to be eligible for finals.
Competition Points
- Win – 3 points
- Draw – 1 point
- Loss – 0 points
- Forfeit (win) – 3 points
- Forfeit (loss) – 0 points
- Forfeit (less than 24 hours notice) – minus 1 point
Game Fees
- Teams must pay game fees before the commencement of each match. If forfeiting with less than 24 hours notice you MUST pay the game fee.
Indoor Netball Rules
Game Structure
-Duration: Two halves of 15 minutes each.
– Halftime: 3 minutes.
Teams
– Players: Each team consists of 7 players on the court. A team must have at least 4 players on the court to start the game.
– Mixed: A maximum of 3 males are allowed on the court, and they must be spread across the separate thirds.
– Substitution: Substitutions can only be made at halftime, except in the case of an injury. Injured players must leave the court to allow a substitute to enter.
Scoring
– Goals: A goal is scored when a player within the shooting circle successfully shoots the ball through the opponent’s hoop.
Game Play
– Starting the Game: The game begins with a centre pass from the centre circle.
– Out of Bounds: If the ball goes out of the designated playing area, it is restarted with a throw-in by the opposing team from the point where the ball went out.
– Movement: Players must not run with the ball. They must pass or shoot within 3 seconds of receiving it.
– Stepping: Players cannot take more than 1.5 steps while in possession of the ball. This rule prevents players from running with the ball.
– Footwork: When catching a pass, players must have at least one foot grounded before passing or shooting the ball. This rule ensures players maintain balance and stability.
– Passing: The ball cannot be thrown over more than two-thirds of the court without touching another player.
Positions
-Each player has a designated position with specific areas of the court they may enter.
Goal Shooter (GS): Only allowed in the attacking shooting circle.
Goal Attack (GA): Allowed in the attacking shooting circle, attacking third and the centre third.
Wing Attack (WA): Allowed in the attacking third and the centre third but not in the shooting circle.
Centre (C): Allowed in all thirds. Not the shooting circle.
Wing Defence (WD): Allowed in the centre third and defensive third but not in the shooting circle.
Goal Defence (GD): Allowed in the defensive shooting circle, defensive third and centre third.
Goalkeeper (GK): Allowed in the defensive third and shooting circle.
Fouls and Free Passes
– Contact and Obstruction: Players must not make contact with an opponent or obstruct their path to the ball. Violations result in a free pass awarded to the opposing team.
– Free Pass: A free pass is awarded for minor infringements. The player must pass to a teammate within 3 seconds.
– Penalty Pass: A penalty pass is awarded for more serious infringements, such as contact in the shooting circle. The defending team must stand at least 1 metre away from the player taking the penalty.
Timeouts
– There will be no timeouts. The game will be stopped in the event of an injury.

– The game will have at least 1 umpire who enforces the rules, manages the game flow, and addresses any disputes.

– Players are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in a warning or suspension from the game.

Indoor Basketball Rules
Game Structure
– Duration: Two halves of 15 minutes each.

– Players: Each team consists of 5 players on the court and can have unlimited substitutions. A team must have at least 4 players on the court to start the game.
– Mixed: A mixed team must have 2 women on the court at all times.
– Substitution: Substitutions can be made at any stoppage in play. Players entering and exiting must do so at the designated substitution area.
Scoring
– Field Goals: A field goal made from inside the three-point line is worth 2 points. A field goal made from beyond the three-point line is worth 3 points.
– Free Throws: Each successful free throw is worth 1 point.
Game Play
– Starting the Game: The game begins with a jump ball at centre court.
– Dribbling: Players must dribble the ball while moving. If a player stops dribbling, they cannot begin dribbling again until another player has touched the ball.
Fouls
– Personal Fouls: Players are allowed 5 personal fouls before fouling out of the game.
– Team Fouls: Once a team accumulates 5 team fouls in a half, the opposing team will shoot 2 free throws for each subsequent foul.
– Technical Fouls: Technical fouls result in 2 free throws for the opposing team. Players can receive a technical foul for unsportsmanlike behaviour.
Violations
– Travelling: Taking more than two steps without dribbling is considered travelling, resulting in a turnover.
– Double Dribble: Dribbling the ball, stopping, and then dribbling again is not allowed.
– Three-Second Violation: An offensive player cannot remain in the key (paint area) for more than 3 seconds while their team is in possession of the ball.
Timeouts
– There will be no timeouts. The game will be stopped in the event of an injury.
Officials
– The game will have 1 referee who enforces the rules, manages the game flow, and addresses any disputes. The referee’s decision is final.
Conduct
– Players and coaches are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in a technical foul or ejection.
Finals Eligibility
– To be eligible to play in the finals, players must have their name, email address and phone numbers in Spawtz. Players must have played 3 current competition games to be eligible for
finals.

Indoor Pickleball Rules
Game Structure
– The first team to reach 11 points wins the game, provided they lead by at least 2 points. Maximum 30 minutes. Highest score after 30 minutes is declared winner.
Teams
– Players: Each team consists of 2 players (doubles) or 1 player (singles).
Scoring
– Points: Only the serving team can score points. A point is scored when the opposing team fails to return the ball or commits a fault.
– Game Win: The first team to reach 11 points wins the game, provided they lead by at least 2 points.
Game Play
-Serving: The serve must be made underhand from behind the baseline and must clear the non-volley zone (kitchen).
– Double Bounce Rule: The receiving team must let the serve bounce once before returning it, and the serving team must let the return bounce before playing the ball.
– Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen): Players cannot volley (hit the ball before it bounces) while standing in the non-volley zone, which is 7 feet from the net on either side.
Faults
– Serving Faults: A fault occurs if:
The serve does not clear the net.
The serve lands outside the designated service court.
– Play Faults: A fault occurs if: the ball is hit into the net; the ball is hit out of bounds; a player volleys the ball while standing in the non-volley zone.
Line Calls
– Players are responsible for calling the lines on their side of the court. Disputed calls may be resolved by mutual agreement. If no agreement can be made the point will be replayed.
Conduct
– Players are expected to demonstrate sportsmanship. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in a warning or ejection from the game.
